Dances With Bugs

Kevin Costner may not be thrilled with starring in this script, so I was recruited. One of my strongest memories of riding motorcycles decades ago was being hit square between the eyes with a June bug. Amazing how such as small moving object can have such an impact. I sported a pink shiny spot in between my eyebrows for a few days.

Yesterday’s ride was almost an exercise in déjà vu. Fortunately, my face shield was down.

For any physics (the ‘f’ word – shudder) nerds out there, if you would like to calculate the collision, start with this:

v1 = v1i (m1 - m2) / (m1 + m2) + v2i (2 m2) / (m1 + m2)
v2 = v1i (2 m1) / (m1 + m2) + v2i (m2 - m1) / (m2 + m1)
